Bob Withers

Bob Withers has been working professionally as an analytical psychotherapist since the mid nineteen eighties. He qualified from the Society of Analytical Psychology as a Jungian analyst in 1994 and currently practices at The Rock Clinic in Kemp Town (www.rockclinic.org.uk), which he helped set up in 1990.

Before training to be a psychotherapist, Bob was a complementary therapist and he used Jung’s work on alchemy to help research psychological aspects of homeopathy for an M Phil at the University of Sussex in the late nineteen seventies. Since then he has lectured both internationally and in this country on M Sc programmes and has taught on several counselling and psychotherapy courses. Bob has many years experience as a clinical supervisor of both counsellors and psychotherapists. He has a special interest in the mind body relationship and has published (as Robert Withers), researched and lectured on a variety of related subjects. He also compiled, edited and contributed to the book ‘Controversies in Analytical Psychology’.

Although Bob is a Jungian analyst his approach is not exclusively Jungian. His previous training experiences familiarised him with the work of Freud, Klein, Lacan, the British Object Relations theorists and others.  He draws on these experiences to help enable him to treat each person as a unique individual. His training also equips him to see people either weekly or more frequently depending on their requirements.
